Planting has started for 2008

At short notice we received an offer of two days of assistance by a small team from Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) on April 28th and 29th. This was too good an offer to refuse and you can see from the cheerful gang pictured above that CVA workers and CCA volunteers all enjoyed the work. Many thanks to Ruth and the CVA teams, also to Town of Cottesloe and Ken for their assistance.

We planted 500 local provenance seedlings at Dutch Inn Groyne, an area we had worked at about 6 years ago. Many of the seedlings planted then have done very well but weeds had moved in to some bare and eroded areas. We weeded out pelargonium, dune onion weed, sea spinach and planted various species of local salt bush, cockies tongues and local sedges in their place.
