Hi Martin - good to know they are in Mosman Park too. Not sure where you can get seed but I will ask around and see what I can find out...and yes Cottesloe Native Garden is adjacent to the golf course - just next door to Seaview Kindergarten.
And latest update - we found seed! More here http://cottesloecoastcare.org/dir/finding-pellitory

Yes have had several sightings in my garden in Mosman Pk. I would love to get some seed of Native Pillitory if you have some spare?! ..Good to see them around,... as a state our butterflies are a little thin on the ground. Saw some Checkered swallowtails in the Pilbara in June July.
Is the Cottesloe native garden next to the Golf Course?
Keep up the good work!
Cheers Martin

Thanks for your phone call and comment Steve. Many people have told us that they have enjoyed seeing Seadragons at AQWA. This display is important, as you have noted, to show people our wonderful marine biodiversity. We hope that the few seadragons that are collected each year by MAF licensees will one day lead to successful aquaria breeding and this will lead to further protection for wild populations.

I am pleased that the small scale commercial take will continue, the licenced aquarium collectors pose no threat to dragons in WA. The small numbers collected fetch a high price and go to public aquaria, research institutions and the like. I have seen then from 2 to 25m of water, from the Great Australian Blight around to Jurien Bay in the Mid West, so they can be found in a range of habitats over a huge strech of coast. Without limited collection only those able to dive will have the opotunity to see a seadragon, hardly a fare situation for those who are physically unable or unwilling to dive.

Hello and well done on the work to protect the weedy seadragon.

I would like to speak to someone in your organization about an upcoming event to be held at Cottesloe
on the 17th July 2011 - it is the weekend of the International Whalebone Longboard Surf Classic.

Our ukulele group has earned the gig in the morning (10.30) and to begin the music side of things we have asked Ginny Webb, a singer/musician of some note to perform the Simon Nield song....
Dragons Fly. I'm sure you would be familiar with this beautiful song written about our wonderful Weedy Seadragon flying over the sand. Ginny Webb is only too happy to help out.

We are hoping some Weedy Seadragon people could come down and support our efforts to see the weedy seadragon protected in WA waters, get some signatures for your petition and especially since this is an international surf competition, surfers who love the ocean and its creatures can take the message away with them.

What do you think ?

Regards, Erin Whitfield. Ukulele Rabble. Ph: 9339 2596
